Join us at the 2017 ABCs!

The annual gathering of active citizens has begun!  Join the Break Away staff and campus leaders from colleges and universities across the nation for a week that will enrich your alternative break program, expand your leadership potential, and determine the direction of the national Movement. The Alternative Break Citizenship schools (ABCs) combine the intensity of an authentic alternative break with the innovative training and networking opportunities of a national conference. Those interested can attend the Staff Development Track, register as a staff or student participant, or apply as a site leader.

Apply for the 2016 - 2017 National Alternative Break Awards!

The National Alternative Break Awards are the highest honors given to alternative break programs, community partner organizations, and the active citizens among us. These awards give the Movement a chance to recognize and honor folks doing the hard work to create the very best. Current Chapter schools and alternative break alumni are encouraged to submit nominations for the people and organizations who move forward the often thankless work of building and strengthening active citizenship.

Submit a Photo for the 2017 #AlternativeBreaks Photo Contest!

Over the past few years, over 8,000 photos have been collected from alternative break programs across the country tied to the annual #AlternativeBreaks photo contest! During AB trips and experiences this year, use #AlternativeBreaks on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter to enter submissions in three different categories. Winners will be announced at the beginning of April!
