- Volunteer Services was created as a unit in the Office of Student Activities in the fall of 1998. Coordination and implementation of Alternative Breaks is provided by the Graduate Assistant for Volunteer Services with assistance from the Director of the Office of Student Activities.
Alternative Spring Break (ASB) provides the opportunity for students to plan, raise money, travel and help another community during spring break. In the past, ASB has traveled to Omaha, NE, Nashville, TN, Mobile, AL, Washington D.C., and New Orleans, LA. Examples of past service projects include partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Hurricane Katrina Relief, and participating in an Urban Plunge program.
An Alternative Winter Break (AWB) Program is currently being explored with the hope of recruiting and fully implementing in January 2019.
