Submissions for the 2021-2022 academic year are open!
For the last decade, Break Away’s national survey has documented the development of the alternative break Movement, reporting on the collective impact, best practices, and current trends. This year, we believe that work is more important than ever. We want to hear from you, whether you held virtual or in-person alternative break programming this year.
Fill Out the SurveyWe’ve bolstered the survey with questions to capture the continued impact of, and the Movement’s response to, the pandemic. We’re interested in how programs have adapted service, how breakers have been convening virtually, approaches to COVID precautions, and how programs are thinking about the next year of alternative break programming.
Each year’s National Alternative Break Survey Report has been used by programs in benchmarking efforts, budget proposals, strategic planning, and beyond. It helps us tell the story of alternative breaks to our students, colleagues, administrators, and the organizations we work with. The data we collect from you all directs our programming—curriculum development, national calls, and other Chapter resources—in our efforts to help address your most pressing questions and concerns.
A few frequently asked questions:
- The survey can be filled out by anyone affiliated with your program (students, staff, and GAs all welcome)—but only one response per program, please.
- If COVID-19 continued to thwart all your plans and you didn’t actually send any alternative breaks this year, please fill it out anyway! We want to capture that story as well.
- You’ll be able to start and save your responses for later, in case you aren’t able to finish in one sitting.
We can’t wait to read through your responses.
