To be nationally recognized is among the highest honors given to alternative break programs, community partner organizations, and exemplary individuals.

It’s our privilege to highlight the remarkable work being done with alternative break programs, active citizens, and communities nationwide. Winners in the past have secured institutional funding, full-time staff positions, and of course eternal bragging rights as a result of their designation.

The Process:

Those interested in submitting an application are welcome to apply for multiple categories (Program, Active Citizen, Staff/Faculty, and Community Partner). Not every short answer question needs to be filled out - you're welcome to respond to the number of prompts that feels appropriate. Nominations will be reviewed and selected on a rolling basis.

Winners will be recognized on Break Away's social media platforms. Winners may also receive a letter of recognition, discounts on products and services, and a spotlight at our national conferences.
